Description
Help collect Wapato seeds and map the patches of Wapato thriving at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge in partnership with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership and US Fish and Wildlife Service. Learn more about this local wildlife refuge, the significance of Wapato and earn 3 CBL hours.
Pre-registration is encouraged.

Families welcome to join.
Accessibility: We will be caravaning to the Columbia floodplain where the Wapato has taken off.
We'll provide: Snacks and warm beverages.
What to wear: Long sleeves, pants, sturdy sneakers or boots. Dress for the weather: extra layers are helpful for the wind.
What you should bring: Water bottle, sun/raingear.
Directions: A reminder email with directions and parking info will be sent 3 days before the event.

Schedule: 910AM to 1PM
10:00 AM - Arrive at the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge
10:00AM - Introductions, project orientation, and goals
10:15 AM -Caravan to the Wapato patch near the Columbia River
10:40 AM - Collect Wapato seeds and map the clusters of thriving Wapato
12:40 PM - Caravan back to the parking area
1:00 PM - End of event
